2.1 Personal Information
We collect the following personal information that you voluntarily provide when using the app:
- Name: Used for account creation within the app.
- Email Address: Used for account management & communication
- Phone Number: Used for account creation, OTP verification, authentication, and ensuring security and fraud prevention.
- Address: Used for account creation purposes
- Other Information: Includes user-provided inputs such as date of birth, required for account creation, and lifestyle/survey data used to calculate carbon footprint and generate insights (app functionality).
All personal information collected is used strictly for providing core app functionality, account management, communication, and ensuring security and compliance. We do not sell or use this information for unrelated advertising or profiling.
2.2 Survey & Usage Data
To calculate your carbon footprint, we process self-reported information that you choose to provide through in-app questionnaires. This information may include, in aggregated form:
- Household characteristics and occupancy details
- Electricity usage and appliance-related information
- Cooking fuel types and cooking habits
- Transportation and travel patterns (including daily travel and flights)
- Food preferences and dietary patterns
- Shopping and consumption habits
- Waste management and water usage practices
- Personal water usage patterns (including bathing habits)
This information is used solely to generate emission calculations, insights, and comparisons within the application and is not used for advertising or profiling unrelated to the app's core functionality.
2.3 Automatically Collected Information
- We collect limited, aggregated usage information to understand how the application is used at a high level. This may include installation counts, active user statistics, and general usage timing patterns. This information is collected in an aggregated and non-identifiable manner and is used solely to monitor application adoption and stability.
- We do not collect detailed user interaction logs, behavioral event tracking, or crash reports.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information to:
- Provide Services: Calculate and display your carbon footprint
- Authentication: Verify your identity via OTP
- Personalization: Offer tailored recommendations to reduce emissions

4. Data Storage & Security
4.1 Storage
- Your data is stored on secure servers.
- Survey responses are linked to your account for historical tracking.
- OTP codes are temporary and not stored permanently

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
- Secure token-based authentication
- Access controls to limit data access to authorized systems and personnel
5. Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do NOT sell your personal information. We may share data only in the following circumstances:

6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data
- Correction: Update or correct certain personal profile details, including your first name, last name, email address, phone number, and profile picture. The Lifestyle inputs and survey responses used for emission calculations can be updated by the user within the application, subject to a limited number of edits. Once the permitted number of updates is exhausted, further modification of previously submitted survey responses is not supported.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account. Upon deletion, your account is disabled, personal identifiers like Phone Number & Email address are removed and the account is no longer accessible. Data associated with the account is retained as described in the Data Retention section.
- Data Portability: Request a copy of your personal data in a commonly used, machine-readable format.

7. Account Deletion Request
You can request deletion of your account and associated data using either of the following methods:
A. In-App Deletion (Recommended)
- Open the e-Mission Control app
- Go to Profile
- Scroll down to find "Delete Profile"
- Tap on “Delete Profile”
- Confirm your request
B. Request via Form
If you are unable to access the app, you can submit a deletion request using the form below:
You will be required to provide:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Registered Email Address
- Phone Number used during registration
Account deletion requests are processed within a reasonable timeframe (typically within 7–15 days)
What happens after deletion:
- Your personal identifiers (such as phone number and email address) are removed, and remaining data is anonymized (all personal identifiers removed) and may be used in aggregated form for analytics
7.1 Data Retention
This section explains how different categories of data are retained, including what happens to data after account deletion.
- Account Data: Account-related information is retained while your account is active.
- Survey History: Survey responses are retained to enable historical comparison within the application.
- Deleted Accounts: When an account is deleted, the account is marked inactive and is no longer accessible to the user. Data associated with a deleted account remains stored in our systems & your personal identifiers (such as phone number and email address) are removed, & the survey data is no longer used for application functionality but may be used in anonymized, aggregated form for analytics and system improvement
8. SMS Permissions (Android)
For OTP auto-fill functionality, the App uses SMS Retriever API which:
- Does NOT require SMS read permission
- Only reads SMS messages containing our app-specific code
- Does NOT access your other SMS messages
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
